Ask MN State Legislators: Support ALS Research, Clinics and Care Services Funding
Recently, two bills were introduced in the state of
Minnesota that would dramatically increase care for the ALS community while
making significant strides in critical research needed for treatments that can
help lead to a cure.
A bipartisan coalition introduced legislation
for ALS research, caregiving grants, and clinic support. Led by Senator David
Tomassoni (DFL-Chisholm), who was diagnosed with ALS last year, this
legislation would provide $45 million in funding to support the ALS community
in Minnesota. Further details on each bill are as follows:
- SF3372/HF3603 would provide $20 million in one-time funding to the University of Minnesota for ALS-specific research grants.
- SF3310/HF3604 would provide funding for a $10 million annual ALS research grant program; a $10 million annual ALS clinic grant program to support, improve, and expand the treatment of ALS; and a $5 million annual grant program to support family caregivers of individuals with ALS.
Help us build momentum for these bipartisan
bills by asking your Senator and Representative to sign on as a cosponsor and
support both today.
